We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join their quality and testing team. This role is perfect for someone with a background in material testing or lab work, looking to develop their career in a hands-on, technical environment.

As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll be responsible for conducting quality control tests on rubber materials and conveyor belts, ensuring product compliance and reliability. You’ll use a variety of specialised equipment to assess properties such as hardness, elasticity, tensile strength, and flame resistance.

• Conduct laboratory tests on rubber materials and conveyor belts (Steel Cord/Fabric)
   
• Record, analyse, and interpret results with accuracy and attention to detail
   
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment including Rheometers, UTMs, and flame testers
   
• Prepare and manage samples for testing and maintain accurate documentation
   
• Test and evaluate quarantined stock and liaise with Lab Manager for decision-making
   
• Support incoming inspection processes and assist with reporting
   
• Follow lab safety protocols and participate in weekly safety audits
   
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of lab quality systems
   

• 2–3 years' experience in a lab/testing role, ideally in a manufacturing environment
   
• Knowledge of rubber, polymers, or materials science is highly regarded
   
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as Rheometers, tensile and flame testers
   
• Strong analytical skills and a methodical, detail-focused approach
   
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow structured testing protocols
   
• Strong communication skills and a safety-first mindset
   

• Background in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
   
• Knowledge of rubber materials and relevant testing standards is a strong advantage
